How long it takes to learn Ukrainian
Cambridge puts the road to level A2 at about 180–200 study hours — at 25 minutes a day, that is about a year and a half. But the first useful things arrive much sooner: getting by at a café — in a month.

This figure comes from the exam board, not from research, and it describes an average path in a classroom group. Apply it to twenty-minute self-study with care: some classroom time goes on things the app does not have at all, and some of what the app gives you never happens in a classroom.
What the timeline depends on most
- Regularity. Twenty minutes every day beats two hours on Saturdays — measured, not assumed.
- The script. The script is familiar — those two weeks you save.
- What surrounds you. Living in the country, you hear the language every day, and that changes the pace more than any method.
- Awkwardness. The fear of making mistakes gets in the way of learning more than most differences between methods.

No. In a month at twenty minutes a day you can realistically learn to read, pick up a couple hundred words and get by in a shop. That is a lot — but it is not “learning the language”.
