Text

  • Спочатку я записався онлайн, потім прийшов за пʼятнадцять хвилин до приймальних годин. Виявилося, що потрібна копія, завірена нотаріусом, а в мене була звичайна. Довелося йти до нотаріуса і повертатися наступного дня. Термін розгляду — тридцять днів, тому я подав документи заздалегідь.
First I booked online, then came fifteen minutes before opening hours. It turned out I needed a copy certified by a notary, and mine was ordinary. I had to go to the notary and come back the next day. The processing time is thirty days, so I submitted the documents early.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. How did the narrator book?
  2. What did he not have?
  3. When did he come back?
  4. What is the processing time?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Ukrainian?

B1. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
