The office said that insurance was included in the price, but the fuel was on us. As soon as we got into the car, we fastened our seat belts. In the city the speed limit is forty an hour. Near a shop stood a road sign: one-way traffic. At first we did not notice it, and so a policeman stopped us. He ordered us to present the documents. Since we had not exceeded the speed, there was no fine. In the end we returned the car with a full tank.

Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Tamil?
A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
