Next week she has a test. Mathematics and physics are difficult subjects for her, but history she loves very much. Every day she studies for two hours in the evenings and repeats what she has learned. Yesterday she took out an old test and looked: there were many mistakes in it. I gave her an explanation, and she corrected the mistakes. A retake is not needed, a good mark is needed, she says.
Comprehension questions
The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.
- What will her sister have next week?
- Which subjects are hard for her?
- What did she find in the old test?
- What does she not want?
Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Tamil?
A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
