Each person picks a novel or a story and speaks about the plot. Last month we discussed a book by one writer: the cover is plain, but the book's protagonist stayed in memory. Some found it funny; others, on the contrary, called it heavy. I wrote out a quotation and reread it once more at home. Next time we will watch a documentary, and afterwards talk about its sequel.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
