I took the textbook from the library and put a notebook and two pencils on the table. A classmate who took the same exam last year showed me his day planner and said: memorizing by heart is useless, it's better to solve problems. I left the hardest chapter for last, because there are many formulas there. If I score eighty points, I'll get a scholarship; if not, the retake will be in September.

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
