Plurals: -եր / -ներ
One-syllable words take -եր, multi-syllable words take -ներ. գիրք → գրքեր (books), ուսանող → ուսանողներ (students). For example: “Երկու սուրճ, խնդրեմ” — Two coffees, please. A rule from the Armenian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
One-syllable words take -եր, multi-syllable words take -ներ. գիրք (girk') → գրքեր (books), ուսանող (usanogh) → ուսանողներ (students).
After a number the noun usually stays singular: երկու գիրք (yerku girk') — 'two book'. It feels wrong for a moment and then saves you effort: no 'two books' versus 'two oxen' decisions to make.
By example
- Երկու սուրճ, խնդրեմyerku surch, khndremTwo coffees, please
- Մրգեր կա՞նmrger kan?Are there any fruits?
How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.

What does it look like in an example sentence Armenian?
