A short in Valencian text at level B1. The translation sits next to it: reading with a dictionary is still too early at this level, and without support it will not happen at all. Marta has a plan: to open a bakery in the neighborhood, but she lacks money. This morning she went to the bank and…
Text
Marta has a plan: to open a bakery in the neighborhood, but she lacks money. This morning she went to the bank and asked for a meeting with the director to talk about a loan. The bank offers her conditions in writing: twenty thousand euros for five years and a fixed monthly payment. Marta thinks the demand for bread in the neighborhood is big enough and that the business will be able to pay the sum every month. If the bank confirms the loan, the bakery will open in spring.

Frequently asked
What level do you need to read this text in Valencian?
B1. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.
How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?
First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
