Text

This month we are changing flats. The old flat is small, and the rent grows every year. The new flat is furnished and near the subway. On Saturday the moving truck comes: the movers carry the boxes to the third floor. Then we paint the bedroom white and hang new drapes. In a week I am already getting used to the new place.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. Why are they changing flats?
  2. What is the new flat like?
  3. When does the truck come?
  4. What do they do after the move?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Valencian?

A1. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
