- Al matí llig les notícies al telèfon: primer miro els titulars i després un article llarg. La ràdio diu que el mercat nou obre dissabte. Al migdia el canal local emet un reportatge en directe sobre les obres del metro. De tant en tant hi ha publicitat, però la puc saltar. Si una notícia em sembla estranya, en parle amb el meu germà i busquem una segona font.In the morning I read the news on my phone: first I look at the headlines, then one long article. The radio says the new market will open on Saturday. At noon the local channel shows a live report about the subway works. From time to time there is advertising, but I can skip it. If a news item seems strange to me, I talk about it with my brother, and we look for a second source.

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
