Text

  • Hui he obert el meu primer compte al banc del meu carrer. He ingressat cinc-cents euros del meu primer sou i ja puc treure diners del caixer automàtic. L'extracte del compte arriba per correu electrònic cada mes. Vull guardar diners cada mes, perquè els preus han pujat i una mudança costa molt. Si estalvio, el proper any compraré una bicicleta.
Today I opened my first account at the bank on my street. I deposited five hundred euros from my first salary and now I can withdraw money at the cash machine. The bank statement comes by email every month. I want to put money aside every month, because prices have risen, and a move is expensive. If I save, next year I will buy a bicycle.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. What did he do today?
  2. How much did he deposit?
  3. How does the statement come?
  4. What will he buy if he saves?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Valencian?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
