- Cada primer de mes, en Pere va a l'oficina de correus del seu barri amb una carpeta plena de papers. Hi porta la sol·licitud del permís de treball, una còpia del passaport i el carnet d'estudiant: la data d'emissió del visat caduca aquest mes, i per això tot el tràmit és obligatori. A l'oficina, l'empleada pesa el sobre amb la bàscula i pregunta si ho vol per correu ordinari o per correu certificat; en Pere tria el certificat, perquè vol el rebut amb el codi. Abans de pagar, comprova l'adreça del destinatari al centre del sobre, apunta el codi postal i, a baix a l'esquerra, el seu nom com a remitent. El paquet internacional amb els llibres de la germana ja és el segon enviament del matí: quan surt del correu, la pausa del cafè l'espera a la cantonada.On every first of the month Pierre goes to his quarter's post office with a folder full of papers. He brings there an application for a work permit, a copy of the passport and the student ID: the visa's issue date expires this month, and so the whole procedure is mandatory. At the branch the clerk weighs the envelope on the scales and asks whether regular mail or registered is needed; Pierre chooses registered, because he wants a receipt with a number. Before paying, he checks the recipient's address in the center of the envelope, writes the postal code and, at the bottom left, his own name as sender. The international package with books for his sister is already the second sending of the morning: when he leaves the post office, the coffee break waits for him on the corner.
