- Cada diumenge, l'àvia Rosa fa el seu arròs amb brou de gallina, i la xiqueta l'ajuda des de la cuina. Primer posa al foc la cassola gran amb l'aigua del brou, que ha reposat tota la nit a la nevera. Després talla la ceba ben fina i la daura amb un culleró d'oli i una mica de pebre negre. Quan el brou bull, afegeix l'arròs i els pèsols, i baixa el foc: «La paciència és el primer condiment», diu l'àvia. Mentre cuina, ratlla una mica de pell de llimona i guarda les ametlles per al postre. A taula, tothom repeteix: aquest arròs casolà, amb el seu brou daurat, no té comparació amb cap plat de restaurant.Every Sunday grandma Rosa cooks her rice on chicken broth, and the girl helps her in the kitchen. First she puts a big pot of water for the broth on the fire, the broth that stood all night in the fridge. Then she cuts the onion finely and browns it with a tablespoon of oil and a little black pepper. When the broth boils, she adds the rice and the peas and turns the fire down: "Patience is the first seasoning", says grandma. While it cooks, she grates a little lemon peel and saves the almonds for dessert. At the table everyone asks for seconds: this homemade rice, with its golden broth, cannot be compared to any restaurant dish.
