My elder brother is of medium height, quite slim. His hair is curly, now a little gray. On his forehead there is a small mole, by which he can be quickly recognized. He is very patient and reliable, but a little stubborn. He treats children well and never shouts. And his sense of humor is good, so at home everyone loves him.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. How tall is the brother?
  2. By what mark is he recognized?
  3. Which trait is named as difficult?
  4. How does he behave with children?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Sinhala?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
