Իմ հեռախոսը and հեռախոսս: two ways to say 'my'
'My phone' can be said in Armenian two ways, and both are correct. The first feels natural to an English speaker: a separate word in front — իմ (my), քո (your), նրա (his, her), մեր (our), ձեր (your pl.), նրանց (their). Իմ հեռախոսը նստել է. Note the -ը on the noun: with իմ the article stays, just as after demonstratives. For example: “Հեռախոսս մոռացել եմ տանը” — I left my phone at home. A rule from the Armenian…
How it works
'My phone' can be said in Armenian two ways, and both are correct. The first feels natural to an English speaker: a separate word in front — իմ (my), քո (your), նրա (his, her), մեր (our), ձեր (your pl.), նրանց (their). Իմ հեռախոսը նստել է (im herrakhosə nstel e). Note the -ը on the noun: with իմ the article stays, just as after demonstratives.
The second way is shorter and heard more often in live speech: possession is glued to the back of the word. -ս — my, -դ — your. Հեռախոսս (herrakhoss), տունդ, անունս, ծնողներս (tsnoghners). This is the same ending you met in ճամպրուկս (champruks) and պայուսակս գողացել են (payusaks goghatsel en). The important part: the suffix takes the article's slot, it is not added on top of it. Not 'հեռախոսըս' but հեռախոսս — one slot, one ending.
Then comes an asymmetry you simply accept: endings exist only for the first and second person. The third person got no suffix, and 'his house' is said the only way possible — նրա տունը (nra tunə). Plural 'our' and 'your' likewise: մեր բակը (mer bakə), ձեր հասցեն (dzer hastsen).
When do you pick which? For relatives and your own body, almost always the ending: մայրս (mayrs), եղբայրս (yeghbayrs), գլուխս ցավում է (glukhs tsavum e) — 'իմ գլուխը (im glukhə)' would sound as if there were several heads and we were specifying whose. The separate իմ is used when the ownership is the news: Սա իմ տեղն է — this is MY seat. There is a third shape, for answering without a noun: իմը (imə), քոնը (k'onə), նրանը — Այս գիրքը իմն է (ays girk'ə imn e) — this book is mine.

| you | քո տունը | տունդ | քոնն է — yours |
| he, she | նրա տունը | no ending | նրանն է — his, hers |
| we | մեր տունը | no ending | մերն է — ours |
| you (pl.) | ձեր տունը | no ending | ձերն է — yours |
| they | նրանց տունը | no ending | նրանցն է — theirs |

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
