Last week I went to Gyumri by train. The ticket was one-way, and I had a seat by the window. At the hotel I had a reservation for two nights. At the reception the administrator asked for my passport and gave me the room key. Breakfast was included, but in the mornings I was always late. On the last day I left my suitcase in the luggage storage and walked around the city on foot.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. What was the ticket like?
  2. How many nights was the reservation for?
  3. What did the narrator do with the suitcase on the last day?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Armenian?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
