Text

This Monday I start a new job at a company in Valencia. I signed an employment contract for a year with a probation period of two months. The work schedule is from nine to five, and on Fridays I leave at two. There are six of us in the department: every Monday we have a team meeting, and afterwards everyone works on their tasks. The boss is kind, but demands great responsibility.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. For how long is the contract signed?
  2. What is the work schedule?
  3. What happens every Monday?
  4. What does the boss demand?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Catalan?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
