El dinar de diumenge

Text

On Sunday we lunch at grandma's. In the morning everyone cooks: I peel the vegetables, my sister whisks the eggs, and grandma sets the potatoes to boil. Dad cuts bread on the cutting board, and mother lays the new tablecloth. When lunch is on the table, grandma always says: "Enjoy your meal!". For dessert — strawberries with cream: my Sunday pleasure.

  1. Where does the family lunch on Sunday?
  2. What does the narrator do?
  3. What does grandma say when lunch is on the table?
  4. What is for dessert?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Valencian?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
