Text

  • Dolabımda çok fazla siyah var, bu yüzden dün alışverişe çıktım. Önce mavi bir gömlek denedim, ama çok büyük geldi. Sonra açık renk bir tişört buldum: hem ucuzdu, hem üzerime tam oldu. Kahverengi bir kemer de aldım. Kırmızıyı sevmiyorum, o rengi hiç almam.
There's too much black in my closet, so yesterday I went shopping. First I tried on a blue shirt, but it turned out too big. Then I found a light-colored T-shirt: both cheap and a perfect fit. I also bought a brown belt. I don't like red, I never buy that color.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  2. What was wrong with the blue shirt?
  3. Which color does he never buy?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Turkish?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
