Very, a little, too much: ரொம்ப, கொஞ்சம், அதிகம்
Degree in Tamil is placed before the word it refers to, and almost always by one short adverb. The two main ones: ரொம்ப 'very, strongly' and கொஞ்சம் 'a little, a bit'. ரொம்ப நல்லா இருக்கு — 'it is very good', கொஞ்சம் உப்பு போடுங்க — 'add a little salt'. For example: “இந்த படம் ரொம்ப சுவாரஸ்யமா இருந்தது” — That film was very interesting. A rule from the Tamil course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
Degree in Tamil is placed before the word it refers to, and almost always by one short adverb. The two main ones: ரொம்ப (romba) 'very, strongly' and கொஞ்சம் (koñcam) 'a little, a bit'. ரொம்ப நல்லா இருக்கு (romba nallā irukku) — 'it is very good', கொஞ்சம் உப்பு போடுங்க (koñcam uppu pōḍuṅga) — 'add a little salt'.
ரொம்ப also does the work of English 'too': Tamil keeps no separate word for excess, and இது ரொம்ப பெரிசு (idu romba perisu) means both 'this is very big' and 'this is too big' — by context. If the excess must be stressed, one adds ரொம்பவும் or says it plainly: எனக்கு இது சரிவராது 'this will not suit me'.
அதிகம் (adigam) and குறைவு (kuṟaivu) are 'much' and 'little' about quantity, and they, on the contrary, more often stand after: விலை அதிகம் (vilai adigam) 'the price is high', சத்தம் குறைவு (sattam kuṟaivu) 'there is little sound'. Comparison is built without any special form of the adjective: add -ஐ விட to what is compared with: இது அதை விட பெரிசு (idu adai viḍa perisu) — 'this is bigger than that'.
Judging probability is a separate row, and you know it: கண்டிப்பா (kaṇḍippā) 'certainly, for sure', நிச்சயமா (niccayamā) 'of course', ஒருவேளை (oruvēḷai) 'maybe'. All three come at the start of the sentence: ஒருவேளை மழை வரும் (oruvēḷai maḻai varum) — 'maybe it will rain'. And கண்டிப்பா in reply to a request means a firm promise — it is not thrown around.

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.

What does it look like in an example sentence Tamil?
“இந்த படம் ரொம்ப சுவாரஸ்யமா இருந்தது” (inda paḍam romba suvārasyamā irundadu) — That film was very interesting. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
