Such a word stands before the noun, like any modifier: හොඳම රස්සාව (hondama rassāva) 'the best job', ලංකාවේ උසම කන්ද 'the highest mountain of Lanka'. Where the comparison is set — the place form in -ේ: ඔෆිස් එකේ දක්ෂම කෙනා (ofis ekē dakṣama kenā) 'the most capable in the office'.
The second way is longer and sounds more confident: ඔක්කොටම වඩා (okkoṭama vaḍā) — 'than everyone': එයා ඔක්කොටම වඩා දක්ෂයි (eyā okkoṭama vaḍā dakṣayi) — 'he is the most capable of all'. The literary counterpart is සියල්ලටම වඩා, seen in newspapers. Both turns mean the same, and -ම is shorter.
Be careful with -ම itself: it has a second meaning — 'precisely, indeed'. මමම කළා — 'I did it myself', අදම එන්න (adama enna) — 'come precisely today', එයාම කිව්වා — 'he is the very one who said it'. What the tag is attached to tells them apart: to a feature — the superlative; to a pronoun or an adverb — emphasis.
And the everyday use: to praise the best, the one tag is usually enough. මේක තමයි හොඳම (mēka tamayi hondama) — 'this is the very best', where තමයි (tamayi) is the familiar 'precisely'.
