I am in the sixth grade. At eight in the morning the school bell rings. Most of all I love mathematics, and history is a little difficult. At break we eat rice with our classmates. In the evening I take the textbook and repeat the material. Next week there is a test, so every day I memorize by heart.

Comprehension questions

The questions are asked in Russian on purpose: we test your understanding of the text, not your ability to read the question.

  1. Which grade is the author in?
  2. Which subject is harder for the author?
  3. What does the author do at break?
  4. What will happen next week?

Frequently asked

What level do you need to read this text in Sinhala?

A2. That means: you know the letters and have a stock of everyday words — about two or three hundred.

How to read a text in an unfamiliar language usefully?

First all the way through without peeking at the translation — just to catch the familiar words. Then with the translation. Then all the way through again: the second pass brings noticeably more, and that feeling matters more than any rule.
