Tomorrow: the future tense of simple verbs
Until now you could speak about what is happening now and what happened yesterday. One thing was missing, and without it you cannot buy a ticket or fix a meeting: tomorrow. For example: “ხვალ ბათუმში წავალ” — Tomorrow I will go to Batumi. A rule from the Georgian course: worked out on examples, not memorized as a wording.
How it works
Until now you could speak about what is happening now and what happened yesterday. One thing was missing, and without it you cannot buy a ticket or fix a meeting: tomorrow.
The good news: Georgian has no separate 'will' and attaches no auxiliary. The future is made with a prefix on the same verb, most often და- (da), გა-, შე- or წა-. ვწერ (vtser) — I write → დავწერ (davtser) — I will write. ვნახავ (vnakhav) — I will see. ვიყიდი (viqidi) — I will buy. The prefix goes to the very front, and ვ- ('I') moves in right behind it: not ვდაწერ but დავწერ.
The worse news: which prefix a verb gets cannot be derived from the verb, and there is no rule that fits all. A few verbs change wholesale: მივდივარ (I go) → წავალ (I will go), ვარ (I am) → ვიქნები (I will be). The second of these is the most useful form of the whole topic: სახლში ვიქნები (sakhlshi viknebi), თავისუფალი ვიქნები (tavisupali viknebi).
The advice is the same as for the past: at level A2 the future is learned as ready-made forms, not assembled. Ten of them — ვიქნები, წავალ, ვიყიდი, დავწერ, ვნახავ, მოვალ (moval), დაგელოდები (dagelodebi) — cover any conversation about plans. And you are understood without the prefix too: ხვალ მივდივარ ('tomorrow I go') is a perfectly normal sentence, just like 'tomorrow I'm going' in English.
Table
| now | tomorrow | what changed |
|---|---|---|
| ვწერ — I write | დავწერ — I will write | the prefix და-, ვ moved inside |
| ვყიდულობ — I buy | ვიყიდი — I will buy | a different stem, no prefix |
| ვხედავ — I see | ვნახავ — I will see | the verb changes wholesale |
| ვარ — I am | ვიქნები — I will be | the most needed form of the topic |
| მივდივარ — I go | წავალ — I will go | also a different word entirely |

How the rule settles in your head
A rule is not memorized from an explanation. It is memorized from an attempt to use it and a mistake — that is why the app delivers it mixed in with words, not as a separate lesson: it resurfaces exactly where you forgot it.
Frequently asked
Tomorrow: how does it work in Georgian?
Until now you could speak about what is happening now and what happened yesterday. One thing was missing, and without it you cannot buy a ticket or fix a meeting: tomorrow.
What does it look like in an example sentence Georgian?
“ხვალ ბათუმში წავალ” (khval batumshi tsaval) — Tomorrow I will go to Batumi. A rule is easier to test on sentences like this than to memorize as a wording: what surfaces in conversation is the sentence.
